Hold onto your capes, folks! Zack Snyder just dropped a brand-new, jaw-dropping image of Henry Cavill as Superman from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice! This stunning reveal, shared on Snyder's Instagram to celebrate his third week on the platform, has sent ripples of excitement through the fan community.
But that's not all that's brewing in the world of Snyder. He's also gearing up to direct The Last Photograph, a project he's been passionate about for over 20 years! This film promises a significant shift for the director, known for his work on films like Watchmen, 300, and Man of Steel.
Since joining Instagram, Snyder has been sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses of his passion project. This latest Superman photo, coupled with the caption "Henry Cavill is Superman," has reignited the hopes of the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse faithful.
Now, here's where things get interesting... While Snyder's return to the DC universe seems unlikely, with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm of the newly rebooted DCU, the possibility isn't entirely off the table. The development of Elseworlds projects offers a glimmer of hope. Snyder himself has expressed openness to the idea, stating, "If the characters are treated with reverence, and mythologically correct, then I’m down. I’m in."
Gunn, when asked about Snyder's comments, revealed that they've been in contact, with Snyder offering his support throughout the process.
The Last Photograph is described as the story of an ex-DEA operative who must journey to South America to find his missing niece and nephew after their parents are brutally murdered. He enlists the help of a washed-up war photographer, the only person who saw the killers.
But here's a surprising twist: The project has evolved significantly since its inception over two decades ago. Initially set in Afghanistan, the story followed a war correspondent as the sole survivor of an attack. Christian Bale and Sean Penn were even attached to star at one point.
Snyder describes The Last Photograph as "a meditation of life and death," exploring themes he's experienced personally. He also has other projects in development, including the MMA movie Brawler and an action thriller centered around the LAPD.
